This Sunday, Atalanta welcomed Sassuolo for matchday 26 of the Serie A TIM. At Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, the Nerazzurri were able to get a good victory by 4-1 and leave with the three points. One goal from Berat Djimsiti, two from Duvan Zapata, and an own goal from Megdi Bourabia guaranteed the victory. The same Mehdi Bourabia scored the consolation for the visitors.
Since the early minutes of the first half, the hosts imposed themselves against a technically weaker opponent, showing their offensive power. However, it took them 16 minutes to finally break the deadlock. After a corner from the right, Djimsiti was faster than the marker and used his left foot to put the ball into the back of the net and open the scoring.
A few minutes after that, Atalanta would have doubled the scoring, but after VAR checking the goal was ruled out. It didn’t avoid the hosts of increasing their lead before the half-time, once Zapata scored at the 31st minute. The number 91 was fast enough to beat goalkeeper Andrea Consigli and head into the back of an empty net.
Making things even worse for the visitors, at the 37th minute, Bourabia made it 3-0 for the home side after putting the ball into his own goal.
The second half started again with Atalanta commanding the attacks. Sassuolo were clearly accepting the defeat already and ended up loosing up a little more. With that, at the 66th minute, the home club found their fourth goal again with Zapata. After Alejandro Gomez’s pass, the striker headed the ball into the bottom of the goal.
Already in the injury time, Bourabia tried to redeem himself, scoring the consolation goal for the visitors with a beautiful free-kick, giving no chances to goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini. However, it was already too late and the final scoring was 4-1 to the hosts.
With the victory, Atalanta keeps on showing good football and remain on the qualification zone for the next Champions League, in 4th place, opening 5 points to 5th place Roma. Sassuolo, on the other hand, remains with 32 points.
