The Yellow Submarine spent about 25 million euros to bring the Spanish striker from German side Borussia Dortmund. With that, he becomes the most expensive signing in the history of the Spanish club.
Paco emerged in Valencia as a promise for his capacity of scoring goals and incredible finishing power. However, shortly after, he was loaned to Getafe, where he definitely had his best time, which made him go to Barcelona.
He didn’t stay long at the Catalan team. After that, he went to Germany and was able to recover a little from his football. He even was the top scorer of the team. However, after the arrival of the young star Haaland, he lost space at Dortmund.
The press were speculating him in some clubs in Spain, like Valencia and Villarreal itself. And the five-and-a-half-year deal was closed with the Yellow Submarine, where he will play until June 2025.
Alcacer arrived at BVB on loan from Barcelona in August 2018 and the transfer was later made permanent. He scored 23 goals in 37 Bundesliga games and helped the black and yellow team in many matches. For Dortmund, he won the DFB Super Cup in 2019, against Bayern Munich.
“We would like to thank Paco Alcacer for his performances with the BVB jersey and wish him good health and every sporting success in the future,” said Michael Zorc, Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director.
Paco also has many appearances for the Spanish national team, playing 19 matches and scoring 12 goals, but he never really managed to establish himself with La Roja and guarantee his place.
Villarreal is currently the 8th place in La Liga’s table, with 31 points. The Spanish club is also playing the Copa del Rey, where they will face Mirandes on the quarter-finals.
