Hey guys, let’s analyze all of the 2nd leg confronts of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. Who will make it to the Quarter-Finals? Who will “profit” from being knocked out of the European competition and to prioritize national leagues… Let’s check it out!
Real Madrid – Ajax (2-1 Agg)
The first match is between Real Madrid and Ajax on Tuesday. Ajax lost 2-1 at home but played way better than Madrid, who are not in their best moments. I would actually say that it’s the worst Real Madrid moment in maybe more than 20 years. The Spanish giants are really missing Cristiano Ronaldo, and a good manager to deal with the huge egos from the squad. I will go with a Penalty shootout dispute. 2-1 Ajax and the Dutch side go through in the Penalties.
Borussia Dortmund – Tottenham (0-3 Agg)
This one is very difficult for the German leaders of the Bundesliga. After getting beat by 3-0 at Wembley, they gotta perform a great football if they want to go through. The only positive thing is that the game will be at home, in front of the Yellow Wall, who never disappoints. It’s possible, but Dortmund need to score at least three goals and don’t concede a single one, otherwise, they will have to score 5. My heart wants Dortmund to go through, but I think the Spurs will make it. 3-1 Dortmund.
Paris Saint-German – Manchester United (2-0 Agg)
PSG go through, but Manchester United will fight until the end. I expect a very emotional game and many goals. I think that Mbappe and Di Maria will both score for PSG, and De Gea will once again, avoid the worst for United. Paul Pogba needs to perform very well in order not only for United to have a chance but also in the individual aspect. He needs to be remembered as a player who decides big games like this one. Not as a player who changes his hair color more than his clothes, or as an Instagram player. I go with Paris Saint-German 2-3 Manchester United.
Porto – Roma (1-2 Agg)
This one is really hard to predict. Both teams are equivalent, but Roma is maybe a little bit better than Porto right now. I think it will be 2-1 Porto and they will go to the Penalty shootouts. Porto will go through in the shootouts, 4-3, with Iker Casillas saving two penalties.
Juventus – Atletico Madrid (0-2 Agg)
Atletico Madrid will go through, but Ronaldo will put in a true show. 3-1 Juve, Ronaldo hat trick, and a decisive goal from Antoine Griezmann.
Manchester City – Schalke (3-2 Agg)
I hope Schalke destroy Manchester City. But I think that’s not going to happen. The German side can even beat the English side at the Emptyhad, but they will not make it to the next phase. I go in a 2-2 draw.
Bayern Munich – Liverpool (0-0 Agg)
Bayern Munich is finally showing a good Football. They finally leveled things up with Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga, and they seem to be confident. Otherwise, Liverpool is dropping quality so much. Mohamed Salah is unrecognizable, but we can never doubt him. With both clubs fighting for being top of their leagues, maybe it’s not a big deal to get knocked out from the Champions League. I’m pretty sure that Liverpool fans would rather win the Premier League after 30 years than to repeat what they have done last season when they made it to the UEFA Champions League final but ended up runners up thanks to the great goalkeeper Loris Karius. I mean, you still have to play 9 games in the Premier League, and there are 6 matches to play in the European competition. But the level of the opponents, and the fact that it’s so unpredictable… You can make it to the finals if are lucky in the draw. But you can get knocked out at the Group Stages if you end up in a tough group. Enough of explanations. My prediction is… Bayern 1-1 Liverpool.
Barcelona – Lyon (0-0 Agg)
Lyon can cause some harm to Barcelona through Nabil Fekir. However, we’re talking about Lionel Messi. He’s like a wine. A very good and tasteful wine. The older it gets, the better it tastes. Barcelona 3-0 Lyon, two goals from Messi and one from Dembele.
That’s it, you guys! I hope I can get many results right out of 8. Let’s see how I do!
