This Saturday, Norwich welcomed West Ham for matchday 35 of the Premier League. At the Carrow Road, the Hammers were able to get an amazing 4-0 victory, sending the Canaries back to the Championship. The four goals of the match were scored by Michail Antonio.
The trashing started early in the first half. Already at the 11th minute, the visitors broke the deadlock. After a corner, Issa Diop was able to deflect the ball to the 6-yard-box, where Antonio was waiting to put it into the back of the net, opening the scoring.
After that, the hosts even had a few opportunities, but not really being able to give that final pass, that could bring danger to their opponents. Meanwhile, the Hammers had more the ball and still in the first half, in the injury time, doubled their lead. After Mark Noble’s free-kick, Antonio jumped higher than the defense to head the ball into the back of the net.
Norwich came back to the second half two goals behind in the scoring, and it was visible how that affected the players. They didn’t seem to have the strength to fight back, and that helped West Ham to increase their lead. At the 54th minute, Antonio received the ball in the midfield, ran forward, and went face-to-face with Tim Krul. The keeper was even able to make a good save, but at the rebound, the number 30 put the ball into the back of the net with a header.
20 minutes later, the man of the match, Michail Antonio, appeared for the last time to score the final goal of the match. After a crossing from Ryan Frederick, the British striker scored the 4-0 and guaranteed the 3 points.
With the victory, West Ham reached 34 points but still keep their fight against relegation, in 16th place. Meanwhile, Norwich says good-bye to the Premier League, as their relegation is now confirmed. They have only 21 points, in the last position.
