This Friday, Vitoria de Guimaraes welcomed Moreirense for matchday 27 of Liga NOS. At the Dom Afonso Henriques Stadium, the hosts were fighting for a place on the top 4, while the visitors wanted to increase their distance from the relegation zone. In the end, both sides shared points in a 1-1 draw. Pepe scored for the Conquistadores, while Gabrielzinho scored for the visitors.
The home side had the chance to break the deadlock in the early minutes of the first half but stopped on the good save of goalkeeper Mateus Pasinato. After the initial shock, the away team started to attack as well and brought danger to goalkeeper Douglas, who had to make an important save to avoid the goal.
Vitoria then had the perfect chance to opening the scoring at the 34th minute, when the referee awarded them a penalty after Marcus Edwards was brought down inside the box by Iago Santos. Pepe stepped up and sent a strong shot, making it impossible for goalkeeper Pasinato, who even touched the ball. With that, the hosts went to the locker room ahead on the scoring.
Losing by one goal, Moreirense threw themselves on the attack at the beginning of the second half and soon got the equalizer. Already at the 53rd minute, Gabrielzinho hit on the exit of Douglas, putting the ball into the back of the net and the visitors back on the game.
However, both teams were having problems to attack after that. In the last minutes of the second half, Vitoria started to bring danger once again, stopping on the hands of the opponent’s goalkeeper or hitting the post. Already on the injury time, Florent Hanin saw a second yellow and left the hosts with 10 players. But nothing changed.
With the 1-1 draw, Vitoria de Guimaraes are now in 7th place, with 40 points, 7 points behind the 4th place, Braga. Moreirense, on the other hand, reached 34 points, in 10th place.
