This Thursday, Udinese welcomed Juventus for matchday 35 of the Serie A TIM. At the Dacia Arena, the hosts surprisingly left with the three points after a 2-1 victory against the leaders of the League. Matthijs de Ligt opened the scoring for the visitors, while Ilija Nestorovski and Seko Fofana guaranteed the home team’s comeback.
The 2-1 away defeat came as a surprise, as Maurizio Sarri’s men’s Serie A title bid was put on a hold.
Obviously, the first half started with the Old Lady attacking. Already in the early minutes, they were driving goalwards and forcing goalkeeper Juan Musso to make some saves. After a few minutes, the hosts were able to get the ball and create some plays, even clipping the post and scaring their opponents.
But Juve kept control of the match and it was no surprise when they broke the deadlock at the 42nd minute. De Ligt got the ball outside the box and slammed home from 25 yards out. With that, the visitors went to the locker room with a small advantage on the scoring.
Udinese came back to the second half a little better, having the chance to level the game already in the early minutes. At the 52nd minute, Nestorovski headed Ken Sema’s center into the back of the net, with no chances to goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
The Old Lady didn’t actually feel the equalizer and kept on attacking with their main star, Cristiano Ronaldo. But it just seemed not to be the Portuguese’s day, as he missed a few chances.
Honestly, it seemed that the draw would be the final result of the match. However, Fofana showed up during the injury time to help his team out and spoil the title party for Juventus. At 90+2, the number 6 won a foot race, rounded defender De Ligt, and put the ball into the back of the net to give his team the three points.
The unexpected victory helped Udinese to move up one position, as they are now in 15th place with 39 points. Meanwhile, Juventus keep on first place with 80 points.
