Tottenham’s head coach, the Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, said this Monday that the team must forget the great scorer made on the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League. After winning by 3-0 the German Borussia Dortmund, in London, the coach’s preoccupation is that his men don’t settle down and have full concentration on the second match, that will be in Germany, this Tuesday.
“I think we have to play like always, trying to win. We can’t think about the first match. It is important to start the match at a good level and keep attacking. This is the key”, he affirmed. During the first match, in February, Tottenham was able to get a good advantage with the goals scored on the second half, with Son Heung-Min, Vertonghen and Llorente. “It will be a tough match. We have to forget the first match. This must be our proposal”, completed.
In order to try to decrease the favoritism of the English side, Pochettino said that Tottenham had one day less to rest before the match, once they played on Saturday, and Borussia played for the last time on Friday. “We need help from the FA and from the Premier League. I don’t whose is the fault. It’s a big disadvantage one of the teams have 24 hours less to prepare”, he criticized.
Tottenham also has doubts about the match. Erick Dier and Harry Winks were both out from their last matches, but they traveled to Germany and are available. Pochettino did not confirm the presence of both of the match, explaining that it would be necessary to give them one more resting day before deciding if they will have the condition to play.
If their favoritism is confirmed and the English side continues to the quarter-finals, they will equal their best campaign in this century on the Champions League. During the 2010/11 season, the team passed by Milan and lost to Real Madrid on the next phase. Dortmund, on the other hand, will have to play way better than they’re currently playing to get the goals they need and turn around the scorer.
