In an interview for Norwegian TV channel ‘Viasport Football’, Timo Werner stated that his style of play matches Liverpool. In addition, the German striker praised his countryman – and apparently future manager-, Jurgen Klopp as the best coach in the world.
After scoring the winning goal against Tottenham in the Champions League in the round of 16, Timo Werner’s name was once again spoken in England. Already this weekend, RB Leipzig thrashed Schalke 04 away from home, 5-0. Werner contributed with a goal and an assist in the triumph, and the team is following Bayern Munich, leader of the Bundesliga, only one point ahead.
After the match, the protagonist of the German club said he was very proud to have been linked with Liverpool, which he described as the best team in the world.
“Last year, until I extended my contract, it was always Bayern Munich. Now Liverpool came through the media and our game in England. There are many things that suggest that my style of play can fit the club. In addition, they have the best coach in the world, Jurgen Klopp, ”said Timo.
The number 11 has excellent numbers this season with RB Leipzig. He played 33 matches, in which he scored 27 goals and gave 11 assists. In the Bundesliga, he is the second top scorer, just four goals behind Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski.
Apart from the Bundesliga, Leipzig have also great chances of advancing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Werner won one title in his career, with the German National Team in the Confederations Cup in 2017. During all his professional life, he accumulates 250 matches played, in which he scored 102 goals and gave 49 assists.
That he is a good player, we all know. The big question here is: Where would Timo Werner play if he goes to Liverpool? The position is not the problem, because he can play as a center forward and also as a winger, the problem is: in whose place?! Is it worth paying a lot of money in a player that may not really be a starter? In my opinion, no. Werner will only be a good option for Liverpool if they lose a key player in their front-three, which I cannot see happening for the next season.
