The game between Augsburg and Borussia Dortmund was intense, crazy, exciting and counted on an incredible comeback during the match. The visitors’ 5-3 victory was a milestone in the history of Erling Braut Haaland. The 19-year-old striker debuted and scored three goals for the Black and Yellow side after being introduced in the second half when his team was losing 3-1. The Norwegian was decisive and responsible for the team’s reaction.
Dortmund started the first half with more intensity and had the best opportunities, but the attack was lacking a clinical edge.
At the 4th minute, Hazard came face to face with Augsburg’s keeper, Koubek, but he finished at him. Three minutes later, it was Marco Reus who had the change but he lost it with a poorly shot. And after so many missed opportunities, Augsburg had the chance and took advantage of it.
At the 20th minute, they scored the first goal, but VAR overturned it. On the 33rd, the goal really happened though. After Dortmund’s mistake in midfield, Niederlechner took advantage of delivery into the box and opened the scoring. And they even had the change to double it before the half time, but Burki saved a dangerous free-kick.
After the break, Lucien Favre’s men looked the same, with a floppy midfield and a despicable offensive sector. Everything got harder as Augsburg extended the scorer with Richter before the first minute of the second half. For Dortmund’s happiness though, Julian Brandt answered quickly and made it 2-1.
However, Niederlechner soon scored his second goal, his 10th in the Bundesliga, and put the game 3-1 for the hosts.
At that moment, every Dortmund fan was already criticizing manager Lucien Favre. With only one thing to do, he subbed their brand new player in. Erling Haaland, the young star that came from RB Salzburg, came in with the mission of helping his team to at least get a draw. The mission was accomplished and he did even better than expected.
Just four minutes after he came in, he scored his first goal, making it 3-2. Sancho equalized the game in the next minute. And after that, it was Haaland’s show.
The Norwegian scored his second goal with huge help from Hazard. The Belgian made all the play and all the striker had to do was tap the ball into the empty net. The hat-trick was completed with an assist from captain Marco Reus. Haaland got the ball, speed up and shot past the keeper.
With the amazing comeback, Dortmund is with 33 points (the same as Bayern Munchen and Schalke), in 4th place on Bundesliga’s table. Augsburg is in 10th place, with 23 points.
