This Sunday, Crystal Palace welcomed Tottenham for the last matchday of the Premier League. At the Selhurst Park, both teams shared points after a 1-1 draw. The visitors even opened the scoring with their top scorer, Harry Kane, during the first half, but the hosts were able to level the match at the beginning of the second half with a goal from Jeffrey Schlupp.
The first half started with Tottenham doing their best to break the deadlock. Already in the early minutes, they had chances with in-form players Giovani Lo Celso and Son Heung-min. However, who better than Kane to score on their last match of the term?! At the 13th minute, Lo Celso sent a wicked delivery to the number 10, who was able to put the ball into the back of the net even though he was surrounded by 4 markers.
After that, Palace became the brighter side, creating better opportunities and giving a hard time to the visitors. However, they were not able to make the most of their chances and went to the locker room with a 1-0 disadvantage.
The second half started like the first ended, with the Eagles slightly better. They were having good chances on corners, and it was after one that they were able to level the game. At the 53rd minute, the ball was left to Schlupp after Jordan Ayew’s bad attempt and the German midfielder didn’t miss his chance, putting the ball into the roof of the goal. No chances to goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Not much happened after that, with both teams being a little slack and not really creating any real chances of goal. So the match ended with a 1-1 draw.
The result was not exactly what Tottenham were looking for but it was enough to give them a place on next season’s Europa League, as Chelsea beat Wolverhampton. The Spurs finished the season with 59 points, in the 6th position. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace finished their campaign in the 14th position, with 43 points.
