… Because each time they go younger.
South America has always been a continent characterized by two things: passion and export.
Football is lived 24 hours a day, in a very passionate way. Even the players also live it in the same way, although these increasingly last less time on this side of the pond.
They are not only those that shine in the first divisions; the quarries are also being seriously studied.
That’s why, at present, some 15-year-old players leave …
The numbers? The real ones do not fit in this article.
This export generates an interesting and very recurrent debate in the continent:
Does export benefit or subtract?
Economically, it helps a lot. The stratospheric amounts that the teams receive help them buy players, improve facilities, settle their accounts and other things – like making their owners rich.
But … And the appeal of the game?
Here is the subject. Or dilemma.
The most outstanding pieces leave year after year and new ones arrive. It is cyclical.
South America hosts 37-year-old players at a good level, as well as boys who at 16 years old have little league left.
If this at some point will cease to be so, it is difficult to determine.
The players do not just go to Europe; North America and Asia have become “attractive $” destinations for many. Very many.
There are many possibilities to leave and, clearly, less to reach the continent.
There are two characteristic cases of those who return: They went wrong in their destiny or want to finish their career in the love team.
However…
Why does South America not retain talents?
Soccer is what has less to do in these cases.
The players, more at present, give as much importance to the game as to what surrounds it. Even this last one has gained more importance with the passing of the years.
We must remember the poor origins where many stars come from; Sometimes, finding economic freedom overcomes everything. All!
Left governments, economic problems, insecurity, and other factors condemn.
Europe and the other continents are far above.
Soccer is not just a game anymore. It goes much further and, just for that, South America does not have the best leagues in the world.
But this may one day change.
In 2000 more years, maybe.
