This Saturday, Juventus welcomed Atalanta for matchday 32 of the Serie A TIM. At the Allianz Stadium, the Old Lady was surprised by the good Bergamo side but ended up being able to get a least 1 point after a 2-2 draw. The two goals of the hosts were scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, both from the penalty spot. Duvan Zapata and Ruslan Malinovskiy scored for the visitors.
The first half started already differently from what most expected. Atalanta took control of the ball and keep on the attacking field, while Juve closed themselves, focusing on defending. Being the brighter side, the visitors started creating the opportunities to score, and at the 16th minute, they broke the deadlock. Paulo Dybala lost the ball in the midfield and Zapata was left face-to-face with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to open the scoring.
After suffering the goal, the Old Lady tried to attack more but weren’t being able to pierce the Banshees’ strong defense. With that, they went to the locker room one goal behind in the scoring.
As soon as the second half started, Juve had the perfect chance to get their equalizer. At the 55th minute, they were awarded a penalty after a handball from Marten de Roon inside the box. Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up and converted from the spot.
After that, things got a little more equal between both sides. They were trying to create opportunities, but not really being able to score. It was only at the 80th minute that the visitors found the back of the net again. After receiving in the edge of the box, Malinovskyi sent a strong shot into the right corner to give the lead to the Banshees once again.
However, at the 90th minute, the Old Lady received another chance to get the draw, with another penalty. CR7 stepped up again and converted from the spot, avoiding Juve’s loss.
With the 2-2 draw, Juventus remain in the first place, with 76 points. Meanwhile, Atalanta may lose the 3rd position depending on Inter Milan’s match. They are now with 67 points, just 2 ahead from the Nerazzurri.
