Roma, who comes from a negative streak of two games in the Italian Serie A without a win at home, both against Turin sides, finally got back to the winning ways.
Thanks to a double from Lorenzo Pellegrini, the team of the capital was the last one to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup, winning the away match against Parma this Thursday by 2-0. They will face Juventus on the next phase, in Turin.
The Giallorosso team showed a bit more dominance and were superior to Parma almost the whole game, although it was difficult to create good chances and occasions of real danger in the first half.
The clearest one was at the 10th minute, from Kalinic, the reference on the attack for the Romans, with a pass from Kolarov. The action of the Croatian stopped at the good save from Colombi, who was providential to keep the goalless draw until half-time.
After that, Parma chose to give up some land for the other team and play on the counterattacks, threatening the goal of Paul Lopez a few times, but without showing that clinical edge to open the scoring.
The second half began much busier and just after Kucka wasted a great chance for Parma, Pellegrini opened the scoring for Roma with a good shot at the far post, unstoppable for Colombi at the 49th minute. 0-1 Roma.
Before the end of the match, Pellegrini was given the chance to score another one, after Roma was awarded a penalty, at the 76th minute. Certainly, the Italian midfielder didn’t miss the chance and scored from the spot. 0-2 Roma.
Pau Lopez was also very important to keep the victory, after avoiding Parma’s goal with a vital save, booking the spot of the Romans into the next phase of the Coppa Italia.
