Manchester United was able to get a good victory by 6-0 against the third-tier team Tranmere Rovers this Sunday. The victory secured their place in the next round of the FA Cup.
After having difficult moments in the Premier League and even some people questioning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s work, it was important scoring many goals.
Even though Tranmere were better at the beginning of the match, it was United who broke the deadlock. At the 10th minute, after defender Harry Maguire fired a swerving shot from 30 yards into the top corner. Goalkeeper Davies stood no chance.
Six minutes later, the Red Devils had already scored more two goals. The second came with Diogo Dalot, after an assist from Martial. The third, with Jesse Lingard.
Down to 3-0, it was hard to see Tranmere getting away with at least the replay in the competition. And to make things even worse for the hosts, Solskjaer’s men scored two more before half-time.
At the 41st minute, Pereira put an outswinging cross right at the back post, where Jones was to simply go higher than the defense and send a header into the left corner.
Two minutes later, Martial made it 5. The number 9’s effort deflected on Clarke on its way to the top corner and left Davies motionless!
In the second half, the home side was clearly feeling the shock of the massive defeat. At the 54th, Manchester United were still awarded a penalty. Greenwood stepped up and confidently sent Davies the wrong way with a cal finish.
The host even tried a consolation goal, but it was not possible. With the result, United qualified to the round 5 of the FA Cup.
Now, the Red Devils will focus on the other cup, the Carabao Cup, where they will play the semifinal against Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium. Tranmere Rovers will now welcome Sunderland and continue fighting against the relegation from League One.
