Matchday 29 of La Liga continued this Thursday with the match between Deportivo Alaves and Real Sociedad. At the Mendizorroza Stadium, the hosts weren’t shaken by the lack of fans and beat their opponents by 2-0. The goals were scored by Borja Sainz and Martin Aguirregabiria.
The beginning of the game was slow, with both teams working on the midfield. With that, there were few moments when the teams went to attack, once they were lacking creativity. The goalkeepers didn’t have to make any important or difficult save during the first half. And if there were no goals or interesting plays, something that we saw were fouls.
The second half was a little different, with more chances, especially for the home side. And the Babazorros finally broke the deadlock at 56th minute, when Borja Sainz received from defender Magallan and put the ball into the back of the net. Initially, the goal would be ruled out for an offside position, but after the VAR check, it was confirmed.
After the goal, the match got a little ugly again, with fouls and not many chances. Because of the violent game since the beginning, both teams ended the match with 10 players. At the 81st minute, Joseba Zaldua, from Real Sociedad, was sent off. 6 minutes later, Tomas Pina, from Alaves, also left the field.
And when we all thought that nothing would change, Martin Aguirregabiria appeared at the injury time to double the scoring. At 90+6, the number 21 caught a rebound from Joselu’s shot and put the ball into the back of the net.
With the 2-0 victory, Deportivo Alaves are now with 35 points, in 12th place. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad dropped to the 6th position, with the same 47 points. Both teams come back to the pitch on Sunday, to matchday 30 of La Liga. Alaves will visit Celta de Vigo, while Sociedad will welcome Real Madrid.
