Pacos Ferreira welcomed Portimonense for matchday 33 of Liga NOS. At Estadio Capital do Movel, the hosts confirmed their place in the first division next season with a 2-1 victory over their opponents. Bruno Araujo dos Santos and Denilson Pereira gave the three points to the home team. An own goal from Marcelo dos Santos diminished for the visitors.
Pacos Ferreira started the first half trying to leave with a positive result. So, already at the 7th minute, they broke the deadlock. After some confusion inside the box, the ball was left to Bruno Santos, who pushed into the back of the net to put the hosts ahead on the scoring.
They didn’t have much time to celebrate, as the visitors leveled the match 10 minutes later. After Junior Tavares’ center, Marcelo ended up putting the ball into the back of his own goal.
The hosts were able to regain their lead still before the half-time. At the 41st minute, there was once again some confusion inside the box and this time, the ball was left to Denilson, who sent it past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
Losing by 2-1, Portimonense came back to the second half putting pressure on their opponents but were not able to find the equalizer. Their best chances came through the air. After a corner, Dener headed the ball over the roof and lost the clearest opportunity to score. In the end, the visitors were lacking aim and maybe a bit of luck, so the scoring didn’t change.
The three points were very important to Pacos Ferreira, who avoided relegation and guaranteed their place in Liga NOS next season. They are in 12th place with 39 points. Meanwhile, Portimonense went again to the relegation zone, being now in 17th place with 30 points.
