Leganes welcomed Sevilla for matchday 33 of La Liga this Tuesday. At the Municipal Stadium of Butarque, the visitors got a 3-0 victory and guaranteed their place in the top 4. Two goals from Oliver Torres and one from Munir El Haddadi gave the three points to the Nervionenses.
Visitors started the first half throwing themselves on their opponents. Their first chance came already at the 7th minute, but they missed the opportunity. After that, it was time for the hosts to create a good chance, stopping at the good goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik, who made some great saves. Despite the difference in the table, the match was pretty equal. Until Sevilla broke the deadlock.
At the 23rd minute, Oliver Torres hit a beautiful shot, from outside the box, into the back of the net to open the scoring and put the visitors ahead.
Even though Leganes didn’t stop trying to find their goal, it was Sevilla who found it again. At the 35th minute, Torres received inside the box, totally unmarked, and had time to think and shot into the far corner, with no chances to goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar.
Losing by two goals, the hosts had to do something in the second half, but honestly, they were not able to do so. If during the first half they obligated Vaclik to make amazing saves to avoid the goal, in the second the attacks were not bringing any kind of result. Meanwhile, Sevilla were trying to increase their advantage.
The visitors finally managed to score already close to the end of the match. At the 82nd minute, defender Chidozie Awaziem didn’t clear the ball well and it went to El Haddadi feet. The number 11 hit perfectly into the right corner and guaranteed the 3-0 win to his team.
With the victory, Sevilla remained in 4th place, with 57 points now, just 2 points behind Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, Leganes remained with 25 points, in 19th place.
