This Sunday, Cagliari welcomed Udinese for matchday 36 of the Serie A TIM. At the Sardegna Arena, the visitors left with the three points, scoring already in the early minutes of the game and winning by 1-0. Stefano Okaka scored the goal that guaranteed his team’s in the first division of the Calcio next season.
After their victory over the leaders, and champions, of the League on the last matchday, the Bianconeri were the favorites to win the match. Even with that, it was surprising when, already at the 2nd minute, they broke the deadlock. Jens Stryger Larsen’s center went straight to Okaka, who controlled the ball and put it into the back of the goal to put the visitors ahead on the scoring.
They almost doubled their lead a few minutes later, with Rodrigo De Paul, but goalkeeper Alessio Cragno made a great save to avoid the goal. On the other hand, the hosts were not being able to play, not having on a good chance. However, if it wasn’t for keeper Cragno, there would probably be more goals for the visitors before the half-time.
Things didn’t change that much during the second half. Once again, Udinese were the brighter side and got closer to increasing their advantage but lacking aim. After a few minutes, Cagliari were finally able to at least threaten their opponents. In a good play on the left, Federico Mattiello tried from outside the box and stopped on a good save from goalkeeper Juan Musso.
The hosts kept fighting for an equalizer and they even had chances to score, but all of them were lost by the players, who were clearly lacking aiming. With that, the match ended with a 1-0 victory to the visitors.
With the result, Udinese are in 13th place, guaranteed in the Serie A TIM with 42 points. Cagliari, on the other hand, saw the Bianconeri overcome them on the table, dropping to the 14th place, with the same 42 points.
