This Monday, Sevilla welcomed Eibar for matchday 34 of La Liga. At the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, the hosts were constantly put under pressure by the visitors but ended up getting the three points after a simple 1-0 victory. The only foal of the match was scored by Lucas Ocampos.
The first half started with the away side taking care of the match in the early minutes. Eibar went for the attack but were not really able to threaten the home team. Sevilla, on the other hand, arrived with a little more danger, having two good chances of opening the scoring.
If it wasn’t for goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic, making good interventions, the hosts would probably go to the half-time ahead on the scoring. At the 42nd minute, after a corner, the keeper was crucial to avoid Fernando’s header to hit the back of the net. So, with that, they went to the locker room goalless.
The second half also started with the visitors putting pressure and trying to find the goal, but once again not really being able to create good opportunities. And making this worse for them, the hosts have broken the deadlock already at the 56th minute, even though they were not the brighter side. After a good play Jesus Navas on the right, the number 16 sent a crossing to Ocampos in the far post. The Argentine striker used his right foot to put the ball into the back of the net.
After the goal, Sevilla started to care more for the defense, trying to secure the victory. But it didn’t mean they hadn’t had chances to increase their lead, and only didn’t do it because of Dmitrovic once again making good saves.
Already close to the end of the match, goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik suffered an injury, having to leave the pitch. As all the subs had already been made, Ocampos had to take the place on the goal and he did a good job. After a corner, the visitors almost found the equalizer with, amazingly, keeper Dmitrovic, but the Argentine player made a great save and was, of course, the man of the match.
With the 1-0 victory, Sevilla reached 47 points and occupy 4th position, very close to guaranteeing a place on next season’s Champions League. Meanwhile, Eibar stopped at 35 points, in a precarious position at the 17th place, fighting against relegation.
