This Sunday, for matchday 21 of the French Ligue 1, Neymar led Paris Saint-Germain to another good victory. Against Lille, away at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, the Parisian side won 2-0, with two goals from the Brazilian star.
The first half was marked by only a few chances created by both teams. The first good save of the match was made by PSG’s goalkeeper Keylor Navas, at the 9th minute.
However, even though having the first good attack, the home side didn’t show anything else and, at the 28th minute, the visitors broke the deadlock. Neymar and Verratti played a neat one-two, before the Brazilian bend a terrific effort into the top corner.
Lille continued trying to attack and made some attempts before half-time and even started the second half with full strength. Unfortunately for the hosts, at the 50th PSG was awarded a penalty after a handball from Reinildo after a brief VAR check.
Obviously, it was the number 10 who stepped up and, calmly, converted from the spot. Keeper Mike Maignan still got a hand on the ball but was unable to save it.
The team from the French capital still tried to score the third and had good chances with Mbappe, but the scoring didn’t change.
The 2-0 victory guarantee 3 points more to PSG, who is currently the leader and are now 10 points clear from the second place, Marseille. Lille dropped to the 7th place, with 31 points, which is just 2 away from 4th place and qualification to the UEFA Europa League.
Both teams will now focus on the French Cup, which is in the round of 16. Lille will face fourth-tier SAS Epinal, away from home. Paris Saint-Germain will face, also away, the third-tier side who surprised Bordeaux, Pau FC.
