Italian football against European canvas, again.
Juventus, Roma, Inter and Napoli, all with a good present, had a clear goal: to extend the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Two did it, two threw clear opportunities.
Congratulations, Juventus and Rome! To you, Inter and Napoli, nothing. Absolutely nothing.
We could talk about the failure of Spalletti’s team this season. Yes, in December.
The Serie A is lost. La Vecchia Signora, sooner than ever, took control of her. Now there are no Champions. And do not tell me that a Europa League saves such investments that, by the way, I do not see winning this club either.
Napoli, on the other hand, brought Carlo Ancelotti to revolutionize the club. The winning mentality was necessary. Unfortunately, it sent them to the UEL.
So what?
Winning the ‘second’ competition should not be a goal for these clubs, although given the conditions, worse if they did not. That is, one of the two (or both) will fail badly.
And no one, please, mention the Italian Cup. It is the worst cup in the top countries.
Both teams transmit different sensations, beyond that by simple details (but very important) were eliminated from the Champions. Neither of both is able to follow the rhythm of Juventus either. But more was expected, especially from Inter.
Nainggolan, Baldé, Martínez. They were names that excited.
Lautaro Martinez, perhaps he did lack that time of maturation in the Argentine football that Sampaoli once commented. Only an unpopular opinion.
However, there is a question that can change everything.
Did Inter and Napoli compete this season? Or are they cooking a project to explode next year?
The last one makes sense. In fact, it should be like that. Only that the current season has been able to start much better.
In a year we will know everything. If maybe both clubs get what they lacked, or if only they will remain the typical representatives of Italian football.
