Playing away from their fans, the team from the capital beat Valladolid by 1-0 and took the top of the league away from Barcelona. The winning goal came from with Spanish defender Nacho Fernandez, who was playing as a right-back.
Despite the great result they got, especially because of the 3 points, it was not easy for Zinedine Zidane’s men. The home side made a tough game against them this Sunday.
The two sides got to half-time level, with no goals. However, Real Madrid had the best chance of the first half, when Casemiro headed the ball into the net, at the 12th minute. They just hadn’t broken the deadlock because the Brazilian was confirmed to be in an offside position after a brief VAR check.
The Merengues didn’t have more chances mainly because the midfielders were not able to find spaces and Benzema was mostly isolated in the final third.
For the second half, the visitors finally were able to score their goal. At the 78th minute, Toni Kroos’s corner was half-cleared by Valladolid defense but ended up being delivered to the German midfielder. On his second attempt, he found Nacho. The number 6 headed the ball into the net and celebrated with his teammates. 1-0 Madrid.
Valladolid were still able to score a goal, almost 10 minutes later, but it was also ruled out because of an offside position.

Valladolid, on the other hand, got dropped to the 16th place, with 22 points, 5 points away from the first team on the relegation zone. They will have the week off to prepare for the match against Mallorca, away.
