For matchday 30 of La Liga, Granada welcomed Villarreal this Friday. At Nuevo Los Carmenes, the visitors were able to get the three points with a 1-0 victory. The only goal of the match was scored by Gerard Moreno.
Being at home, even without the fans, Granada started the first half attacking and they had their first chance already at the 4th minute, with Roberto Soldado. After Fede Vico’s cross, the number 9 stopped on the good save from goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo.
However, despite the good start, who broke the deadlock was Villarreal. At the 11th minute, Ruben Pena found Gerar Moreno and the number 7 didn’t miss the chance, putting the ball into the back of the net.
Being behind on the scoring, the hosts threw themselves on their opponents. With that, they created more opportunities on the attack but were still having trouble at the last moment. Even with the changes, they weren’t able to shot or bring danger to goalkeeper Asenjo. So they went to the locker room losing by one goal.
Granada started the second half as they finished the first, in the attacking field. They were finally finishing, obligating Villarreal’s goalkeeper to make good saves in order to keep his team advantage.
After some time, the visitors started creating opportunities once again and almost doubled the scoring with Paco Alcacer. However, the ball went wide. The hosts answered with Carlos Fernandez, but he also sent the ball wide. With the lack of aiming from both sides, the scoring didn’t change and the away club left with the simple 1-0 win.
With the victory, Villarreal reached 47 points, in the 7th position. Meanwhile, Granada stopped in the 10th position, with the same 42 points. Both teams return to the pitch on Monday. The Yellow Submarine will welcome Sevilla, while the Nasrids will visit Leganes.
