This Thursday, Maritimo and Vitoria de Setubal were finally able to face each other for Liga NOS, after 90 days of stoppage. Even playing at home and dominating the actions, the Green and Red were not able to get the three points as the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Jorge Correa scored for the hosts, while Tiago equalized for the visitors.
Since the early minutes of the first half, Maritimo showed that they wanted the victory. Determined to leave the relegation zone, the hosts were more offensive and dominated the actions. Because of that, they broke the deadlock at the 11th minute. After a long cross into the box, Jorge Correa appeared free to slip his head in the ball. It was enough to put it into the left corner, with no chances for goalkeeper Giorgi Makaridze.
After the goal, the hosts were still better and brought a lot of trouble to Vitoria’s goal. The Sadinos, on the other hand, didn’t offer any danger during the first 45 minutes. With that, the home side went to the locker rooms ahead on the scoring.
At the beginning of the second half, things didn’t improve for the visitors, who continued to watch Maritimo be more offensive and creating more chances. And the hosts were even able to score more two goals, however, both of them were ruled out. The first, due to an offside position of Rodrigo Pinho, and the second due to a foul at the beginning of the play.
The Green and Red team was very close to getting the three points, but in football, we can expect everything. So, at the 82nd minute, Tiago Guedes took advantage of a low cross from the right and put the ball into the back of the net.
The 1-1 draw was worse for Maritimo, who continue in 15th place, with 25 points. Vitoria de Setubal, on the other hand, remain in 12th place, with 29 points.
