Germany’s 2014 World Cup title hero, Mario Gotze will not remain in the Borussia Dortmund squad next season. The football director of the club, Micheal Zorc announced the departure of the athlete before the match against Wolfsburg this Saturday, for matchday 27 of the Bundesliga.
However, it may not be difficult for the player to find a new place to go to. In recent days, it has been reported that the German has received several possible proposals. Clubs from Germany, Portugal, Italy and even clubs from Asia and the USA, are interested in the midfielder either.
Mario Gotze started his professional career in Borussia Dortmund, where he made the amazing duo with Marco Reus and won two Bundesliga titles. For the club, he also reached the final of the UEFA Champions League, against Bayern Munich. However, he didn’t play the match due to injury. Some fans still claim that he didn’t play because he had already closed a deal with Bayern for the next season.
So, in 2013, he went to the Bavarian club and was treated as Judas by the fans. He stayed there for 3 years and, even though he scored the goal that gave Germany their 4th World Cup title, in Brazil, didn’t show half of what was expected from him. With that, he returned to the Black and Yellow in 2016.
There were still great expectations for him, but he wasn’t able to shine again. With time, he lost space to Paco Alcacer and, currently, to Haaland.
This season, Gotze has only played 20 matches for Borussia Dortmund. Most of the matches, he had stayed on the bench, having a chance only in the second half. He was able to score just three goals, all the in Bundesliga.
I believe that the best he could do is going to a new country. All his career he stayed in Germany, changing from Dortmund to Bayern, and back. Going to a new place could help him get back his good football and show what is expected of him.
