Vincent Kompany has been a great servant for Manchester City during the past ten years.
The 32-year-old is the only player in the current City squad who experienced the revolution from start to finish.
He was in the squad even when the club was not considered a team worthy of finishing on the top half of the standings and here they are now, being considered as one of the best teams in the whole World.
During his time at the City, the international Belgium has made 337 appearances in all competitions so far, scoring 19 goals.
He has won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, three League Cups, and two Community Shields.
Prior to City’s win against Newcastle United two weeks ago, Kompany was fittingly presented with a framed shirt as a sign of respect.
Kompany has been a great servant to the Manchester City over the past decade and is rightfully a legend in the eyes of most fans of the club.
However, he has had extensive injuries over the past few years which has left him out of action for large periods of time.
City’s skipper is also now entering the final years of his career.
Now is the right time for him to cash in and play in a less physically demanding career such as the MLS or the Chinese Super League. This will also allow him to possibly prolong his career by a few years.
City, on the other hand, should aim to find a new quality young center-back. In my opinion, Harry Maguire is the man that they should target. The Leicester City man has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League during the past two seasons and starred for England during the 2018 World Cup as the Three Lions reached the semi-finals of the competition which was held in Russia.
