After 10 seasons defending the blue side of Manchester, Spanish midfielder David Silva has announced that he won’t remain in the Citizens any longer. The Spaniard considers the pandemic situation a perfect time to make this hard decision.
In normal clubs, David Silva would be considered just a good and loyal player. However, as Man City’s golden era is here and now, Spaniard Silva is considered a club’s legend.
Throughout his Man City career, Silva won several titles, including two Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and five English Carabao Cups. Silva is still lacking that UEFA Champions League title though.
David Silva’s farewell had been announced since last season when the player announced that the 2019-20 season would be his last one defending the Manchester City jersey.
For the reasons mentioned above, and for everything that David Silva represents, a lot of Man City fans are already regretting the Spaniard departure.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the contract of some players in Europe has come to an end, this is exactly the case of David Silva. Thus, the player could have his bond ended with the Citizens, without even having a proper goodbye.
Man City will surely extend his contract until the end of the playable season, so David Silva can bid his farewell to the club he basically helped built.
There are also some competitions David Silva aims to win for City still though. The long-awaited Champions League is the most important of them, and the player more than anyone knows how important this title is for the club, which seeks the greatest glory within Europe.
Man City is in good condition to make it to the quarter-finals, as Pep Guardiola’s side had beaten Real Madrid 2-1 at the Bernabeu in the 1st leg of the Round of 16.
