Looking for the upcoming season, Manchester City set some potential targets for reinforcing the Etihad team. They would be Olympique Marseille’s youngster Boubacar Kamara and Internazionale’s Lautaro Martinez.
The Frenchman would be a low-cost option for the Cityzens, as his price would be around 27 million euros, as Lautaro Martinez could go up to 120 mil.
The competition is fierce for the 22-year-old Argentine striker, and it’s said that he would be willing to sign for Spanish giants Barcelona.
Let’s take a look at both players stats:
Kamara played 24 games for Marseille in Ligue 1, and scored two goals, as Martinez played 22 matches, and scored 13 goals in the Serie A, plus six UEFA Champions League games, with five goals.
Undoubtedly, Martinez is already a top-player, and Kamara would have to be lapidated for the future.
However, it’s worth remembering that nothing is 100% when it comes to Man City’s future. Firstly, they are facing a European ban imposed by UEFA due to breaking financial fair play rules to sign players. So, would both Lautaro and Kamara willing to complete a move to the Blue side of Manchester under this condition?
Secondly, it’s unsure that Pep Guardiola will realistically remain as the Manchester City manager, as he is seen as the perfect name to command Barcelona in the near future, plus he would be reluctant in fighting only for the Premier League. Also, if Pep can go to Barcelona, and it’s said that the Catalans are also willing to sign Martinez, it would be a smart move from the Spaniard manager to return to Barcelona as well.
And last but not least important, this whole coronavirus situation will surely affect a lot of football teams financially, and the football world as a whole will need to readapt to the new reality.
