According to Germany’s newspaper, Bild, German youngster, and Manchester City striker Leroy Sane had reportedly accepted a Bayern Munich’s offer. Apparently, it’s everything right between the German player and the Bavarian side, and a deal would be closed in the imminence of Manchester City accepting the offer.
Sane is pure quality, and no one questions that. However, it’s harder to play in the billionaire Man City under a manager like Pep Guardiola, who likes to rotate the squad, as the German is not seen as a starter in Manchester.
This could help a lot in the deal, as the Manchester City board doesn’t see the player as non-negotiable either.
Sane’s contract with Manchester City goes until 2021 and the Manchester team fears to lose the player for free if a contract extension is not agreed, or if no one’s willing to buy the German striker.
And apparently, the coronavirus factor played a major role in the Bavarian offer. Initially, the Cityzens wanted 105 million pounds to let Sane go. However, after the pandemic outbreak, Sane’s price tag went down to “just” 44 million pounds.
Besides going back to his homeland, one of the main reasons why Sane wanted to go to Bayern was the higher possibility of winning the long-awaited UEFA Champions League.
It’s worth remembering that Manchester City is facing a two-year UEFA ban on European competitions due to breaking financial fair play rules, which could make them lose not only Sane but other key players such as Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero.
Leroy Sane is 24 years old and has only played for two clubs in his entire life: Shalke 04 and Manchester City. All his titles were with Man City, as he won two Premier League and another five domestic cups.
