Playing away from home, Antonio Conte’s Internazionale visited Udinese and beat them 2-0 to retake the 2nd position in the Italian Serie A. The Match happened for the 22nd matchday of the league. Once again, Inter’s savior was Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, scoring both goals in the 2-0 triumph.
The victory took the Nerazzurri team back to the second place in the competition, now with 51 points. Conte’s side is three points away from leaders Juventus, and two points ahead of Lazio – who’s got the most powerful attack in the competition -. Udinese is 15th, with 24 points.
Lukaku scored both goals in the second half to the relief of his fans. The first one came on 64 minutes. Inter’s youngster Niccolo Barella whipped a cross into the box, which found the prolific center-half, who curled home an effort that went out of reach for the keeper.
The Belgian was there once again to double Internazionale’s lead. This time, the goal came from the penalty spot on 71 minutes. Substitute Alexis Sanchez was picked out inside the box, dribbled past goalkeeper Musso, but was brought down before tapping in.
A penalty which was taken by Lukaku, who dislocated Musso in a fine and calm shot to double and seal Inter’s advantage into the match.
It was another important win for Internazionale, who went to play at Udine under pressure, as both contenders had won. Once again, it was up to Lukaku, who was disowned in England and has been constantly showing all his quality in Italy.
Inter Milan will now have the week off to prepare for the derby with AC Milan on Sunday for the 23rd matchday of the Italian Serie A. The arch-rival is in eighth place with 32 points. Udinese will play the same day against Brescia, currently penultimate placed with 15 points.
