This Saturday, at the Olympic Stadium, in Rome, Lazio got a victory over Bologna by 2-0. Luis Alberto and Joaquin Correa scored the goals that guaranteed the three points and the current leadership of the Serie A, once Juventus’ match was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak in Italy.
The hosts built the triumph in the first minutes of the game. At the 18th minute, Ciro Immobile found Spanish midfielder Luis Alberto, who controlled the ball at the edge of the box and shot on the left corner to open the scoring.
The visitors didn’t feel the goal and threatened one minute later with Roberto Soriano, forcing Strakosha to make a beautiful save. But at the 21st minute, it was time for Luis Alberto to assist Joaquin Correa.
The Argentine entered the box and crossed. However, there was a deflection in the way and it killed any chances of goalkeeper Skorupski to make any save. The ball went to the back of the net as the hosts were 2 goals ahead.
In the second half, Simone Inzaghi’s men managed the game and created more opportunities. Serie A’s top scorer Immobile even had the chance to make it three, but the ball went wide. Bologna didn’t show enough strength to try equalizing the scoring and the match ended up just like that.
With that, Lazio is now with 62 points, 2 points ahead of Juventus, at the top of the table. However, the Old Lady has one match yet to be played. The Rossoblu, on the other hand, keep on 10th place, with the same 34 points.
Now, both teams rest the week and hopefully come back to the pitch next weekend. Lazio will face Atalanta, away, on Saturday, while Bologna will welcome Juventus on Sunday.
