One of Barcelona’s main signings of the season, the young Dutchman Frenkie De Jong is already on the radar of other clubs, like Juventus. According to the newspaper “Sport”, the Italians plan to involve midfielder Pjanic in a swap deal, given that he is already an old wish of the Catalan club.
However, it may be difficult, once the Catalan club wants to keep the player, especially because of his age. The Dutch jewel is only 23 years old.
Furthermore, also according to Sport, another factor that reinforces the decision to keep the player in Catalonia is due to the fact that they considered the first year as an adaptation to the Dutchman. Which was necessary so he could understand the dynamics implemented in the team’s tactical scheme.
What they want is to give him enough confidence so he can reach the level he presented when playing for Ajax, where he called attention from different clubs.
De Jong is one of the most promising Dutch players in recent years. At the Amsterdam club, where he started to appear for the world, he reached the UEFA Champions League semifinals. Apart from that, he was certainly one of the highlights of the team, along with defender Matthijs De Ligt. In addition, he was among the best midfielders according to FIFA.
Subsequently, his performances took him to Barcelona. Despite the high expectations for the player, his performances have not been convincing so far, largely due to the way he was used by coach Ernesto Valverde. For the time being, for the club Blaugrana, he participated in 37 games, scored two goals, and gave four assists.
He can do better than that, of course, as he did in Ajax. And maybe continue in Barcelona wouldn’t be the best for him. Maybe going to Italy could be a good option.
