So, following a lot of reports coming from both Catalunia and Turin, the Barcelona-Juventus swap-deal was finally sealed. It involves Barcelona’s Arthur going to Juventus, and Miralem Pjanic joining Barcelona.
We can basically say that both players swapped GOATS – short for Greatest Of All Time. Arthur exchanged Lionel Messi for Cristiano Ronaldo, and Pjanic did exactly the same. Who’s going to make the most out of it?
However, before we get to that point, we need to make somethings clear. First of all, according to both clubs involved in the deal, the swap-deal wasn’t really a swap. They were two different businesses. Barcelona released the price they got paid for Arthur, and figures reach up to 72 million euros.
The Brazilian midfielder arrived at Barcelona back in 2018 and has played 72 games wearing the Catalan club kit. At first, the agreement with the Italian club is that Arthur can conclude the 2019/20 season with his current club.
This weekend, the player traveled to Turin to sign the five-year contract with Juve and carry out medical examinations.
I really think that this move will be better for Arthur than for Pjanic. At least on paper. First of all, Arthur will have much more support from Juve fans than he had from Barcelona ones. And let’s be honest, Lionel Messi rules a dictatorship at that club, and he really disliked the Brazilian boy, which of course had an impact on the midfielder’s Barcelona performances.
So yeah, at first, it’s going to look way better for Arthur, even though the Brazilian player didn’t want to move out from Barcelona at first. However, Pjanic is a more complete player, with a better pass, and can make a difference with a single-pass.
