John Terry’s transfer status has taken yet another hilarious twist. The Chelsea legend was rumored to be on the verge of joining Russian club Spartak Moscow last week.
However, it has now emerged that he has decided against such a move. After his contract with Chelsea expired at the end of the 2016/17 season, Terry opted to join Aston Villa on a season-long deal with an option to extend it by a further year. He opted not to extend his stay with the Villains at the end of last season after Steve Bruce’s troops failed to win promotion to the Premier League.
Bruce has made no secret of his desire to sign another defender and Terry’s snubbing of Spartak could give him renewed hope in any aims which he may have to sign the veteran.
Perhaps it is time for Terry to return to the Claret and Hugh and complete the unfinished business which he has with them. They narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season after losing against Fulham during the promotion play-off final.
Villa has so far started the season in less than speculator fashion as they have taken nine points from their six games played thus far. They trail leaders Leeds United by 14 points. Terry is the perfect kind of guy who can help the Villains to undergo a resurgence.
