In the middle of all the crisis brought by the Covid-19, Independiente fans may have a giant reason to be excited about the return of football. That is because of what manager Lucas Pusineri said. Apparently, he hinted that Sergio Aguero will return to the club before the end of his contract with Manchester City, which would be in June 2021.
Last year, the striker had already said that he had a desire to finish his career at his first club. If he is really moving back to Argentina, his career may be close to an end.
Pusineri also said that he has a good relationship with Aguero and with another Argentine playing in Europe, the midfielder Lucas Biglia, who currently is playing for AC Milan. He said that they were teammates and that he has a deep respect for both.
The manager wants to bring both players to the club as soon as possible and Aguero could be already arriving at the beginning of next year. That would be amazing for the club and for football in South America.
But many may think that it is an early return. Aguero started his professional career in 2003, at Independiente. He played only 36 matches, in 3 years playing, before being transferred to Atletico Madrid in 2006. His start in Europe was good and in 2011 he moved to Manchester City for 36 million euros. And there we all know what he did. He became the top scorer in the club’s history and one of the club’s legend.
He is 31 years old and, so far, has played 368 matches for the English club, in which he scored 254 goals. Aguero isn’t that old and could play a little more in Europe and, of course, he is a very important piece of the Citizens. If he leaves the club, Gabriel Jesus will probably be the main striker… Or maybe they’ll have to find another one.
But for Independiente… It will be amazing to land a signing of this magnitude, even more being a lover of the club. Will the King of Cups come again?
