The departure of Morrocco international Achraf Hakimi from Borussia Dortmund at the end of this season was already certain. The Moroccan left-back would go back to Real Madrid, who owns the player, and there, he would eventually fight for the left-back position against Brazilian Marcelo.
However, before he could even land in Madrid, he surprised everyone as he was seen in Milan, where he underwent medicals at Internazionale, and ended up signing a contract with the Nerazzurri.
Reports claim that figures paid by Inter Milan reach up 40 million euros, which could be considered a lot for such a young player, besides considering the uncertainty that the corona-crisis will bring up, especially for the next season.
Coach Zinedine Zidane had even asked the player back in January to return to Real Madrid. However, the Merengues capitalized on the left-back’s great form and went on to make some profit.
In fact, it’s not a popular opinion out there, but Hakimi is maybe in the top-three left-backs in the World right now. He hasn’t reached Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson’s level yet, but he’s much younger than the Scottish LB, and thus, has more room for improvement.
We need to see if the Morocco international will fit-in into the Antonio Conte system, and if Internazionale can retain both Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku, the Nerazzurri will surely fight for the Serie A TIM title in the next season.
Playing for the Black & Yellow side, Hakimi has played in 72 matches, and scored 12 goals and gave 18 assists. Among all the amazing players Dortmund brought in this season such as Haaland and Brandt, besides Sancho, Reus, and even Raphael Guerreiro, we can say that the young left-back was a standout, and, as previously said, he has total capacities of making it to top-1 left-backs in the World in the near future.
