Still at the top of the Italian Serie A, Antonio Conte’s Internazionale couldn’t do their job at home this Saturday. The Milan side only got a 1-1 draw against Atalanta at the San Siro. Things could even go worse if it wasn’t for the Slovenian goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, who saved a penalty from Colombian striker Muriel at the 87th minute of the game.
It was the home side who opened the scoring, after just three minutes of the match, with a goal from Argentine’s Lautaro Martinez.
In the second half, the team from Milan started not playing as well as they should and felt the pressure that Atalanta was able to make. On the 75th minute, German Robin Gosens took advantage of Malinovskyi’s header, got ahead of Candreva’s mark and struck a powerful shot at the left corner to equalize. 1-1 and a terrible deal for Internazionale.
Before the end of the match, Atalanta still had the perfect chance to go back home with the three points, when Bastoni brought Malinovskyi down and the away side was given a penalty. Handanovic was the hero of the night, saving Muriel’s shot at the right corner.
With the draw, Inter Milan is now with 46 points, which is just one point above Juventus. However, they’re in serious danger of losing the top as the Old Lady will play their match against Roma away this Sunday.
In the case of a Juventus win, Cristiano Ronaldo’s team will retake the top of Italian Serie A.
So now the fans from Inter will have to back Roma to win against Juve at the Stadio Olimpico. Atalanta, on the other hand, continues its good campaign and reached 35 points, the same as Roma, in fourth place in the table.
