Antonio Conte’s Internazionale stumbled once again in the Italian Serie A. This Sunday, the Milan team welcomed Cagliari and only drew 1-1. The draw happened for the 21st matchday of Italy’s Serie A, at the San Siro Stadium.
Argentine Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring for the home team, as former Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan leveled for the visitors.
In the first half of the match, the home team opened the scoring with Lautaro. Ashley Young went deep down the right and crossed into the middle of the area. The ball met the Argentine, who tested hard to score on 29 minutes.
After the break, when the game seemed under control of Internazionale, Cagliari reached the equalizer.
Castro took advantage of a defensive mess, started on the left side and found Nainggolan in the middle. The former Inter player struck a first-time shot into the left corner of the goal.
The 1-1 draw was not the ideal result for Internazionale. However, it could’ve been way worse.
Antonio Conte’s side now adds up 48 points in the table, and are three points behind Serie A Leaders, Juventus, who lost their match against Napoli 2-1 at the San Paolo Stadium.
However, it’s a concrete fact that the Nerazzurri have been underperforming over the last few matches in the league.
Since they lost the top to the Old Lady, Inter’s performances have been poor, and if it wasn’t for their powerful and inspired attacking duo composed of Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku, they could have lost many more points than they actually had.
It’s up to the experienced manager to step up and try to bring the team back together, as their main goal for the season since the UEFA Champions League elimination, is to stop Juventus and win the Serie A themselves.
