A few hours after Cristiano Ronaldo scored two penalty goals against Fiorentina, Italian Serie A’s top scorer Ciro Immobile responded. The Italian striker also swung the net twice in Lazio’s 5-1 win over SPAL this Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico di Roma.
With his two goals versus SPAL, Immobile returned to open six goals of advantage to the Portuguese star. Immobile counts on 25, as CR7 has 19 goals,
The 5-1 rout also made Lazio steal Internazionale’s second place in the league, at least for a few hours, as the Milan team will face Udinese later on Sunday.
Lazio reached 49 points in the league, one more than Inter and five less than Juventus.
Capitalizing on the fact that they were playing against Serie A’s rock-bottoms, Lazio finished the game off still in the first half.
Immobile opened the scoring after finishing home a delivery into the box from Lulic at the far post. Then Ecuadorian Caicedo scored the second.
Immobile went back to the scoresheet as he scored the third. And what a demonstration of class it was. The League’s top scorer received a ball from Lazzari, rounded a defender, and struck a classy finish as the ball flew over not only the goalkeeper but also the SPAL defender who was trying to clear the shot over the line. What a goal from Immobile.
There was time still for another goal from Caicedo as well. 4-0 Lazio in the first half.
After the break, Adekanye scored Lazio’s fifth goal and Missiroli scored the visitors’ consolation goal when the game had become a training ground for the team who’s got the second most powerful attack in the League.
Following the 5-1 win over SPAL, Lazio reached 52 goals scored, and they’re only behind Atalanta, who’s got 59.
