Against all odds, Huracan beat Independiente 1-0 for the 22nd matchweek of the Argentine Superliga. I said against all odds, not because Independiente is a good side. Not at all, as this is maybe one of the worst Independiente sides their fans have ever seen. However, they surprised everyone as they lost to a side that couldn’t win a match over the last 12 matches in the League.
Fair played to Huracan, who took their chance against Independiente and beat them 1-0 at home.
The King of Cups even created some chances but it wasn’t enough. They didn’t show efficiency in the final third, as throughout the whole game, they only had one attempt on target.
Huracan spotted a chance of ending their twelve-game fast in the league and did so. In the second half, they reached the winner goal through Norberto Briasco. In the 53rd minute, Sebastian Ramires picked Briasco out inside the box, as he slotted home at the left corner. 1-0 Huracan.
The goal helped in someway that lighted up the match a little bit. However, it only meant more violent fouls and not real chances. Huracan almost doubled their lead from a long-range shot, but Independiente’s Martin Campana saved it.
Not much happened after that, as Independiente passively accepted the defeat to the 22nd placed in the league.
The 1-0 win was maybe better for Huracan in the sense of boosting up their confidence than properly moving up in the table. It’s true that they overtook Colon and became the 22nd place in a league that counts on 24 teams. But let’s be honest, that’s still pretty poor. Independiente is at the 17th place at the moment.
Huracan’s next match in the league will be against Banfield, as the King of Cups takes on Cordoba.
