A.C. Milan have confirmed today that they will count with Gonzalo Higuain as their number 9 on one season loan. Would that finally be the beginning of a new era in San Siro?
After the Cristiano Ronaldo arrival in Turin, there was so much speculation going on about Higuain’s future. And the most likely destiny for the Argentina International was going to Milan. And it finally happened as this Thursday, both Milan and Juventus have agreed the terms of his transfer on loan. Milan will pay €18M for the season with the option to buy him for another €36M at the end of his loan contract. And there is more.
Leonardo Bonucci will make his way back to Turin on a swap deal as Mattia Caldara will head to the Seven-time UCL Champions, Milan.
But seriously, we need to analyze Higuain’s numbers. My boy “Pipita” is the only player ever to score more than 100 goals in both the La Liga – for Real Madrid – and the Serie A – for both Napoli and Juventus – and there are still so many doubts on him.
He’s the classical number 9, that player who will be offside for many times in a match but can decide a derby. World Football is lacking classical strikers. And honestly, who will be the most rewarded for that is the “Rossonero” club from Milan.
After struggling, and almost going bankrupt, one of the most successful clubs in History seem to finally be back on track. This is the beginning of a new era for Milan. Enough to break Juve hegemony? Don’t think so…
Juventus have signed superbly this season and will be a heavyweight not only in Italy, but in Europe as well. Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala have everything to make a good duo and I would bet on Juventus making it 10 in a row in Serie A and maybe another UCL Final in the next 3 seasons.
As for Milan’s future, their rebirth is going down and with a few more impacting signings, they can finally go back to Glory.
