Tottenham have had a gigantic problem for the season. Harry Kane, their main player and striker, had confirmed on Tuesday a ligament injury in his right ankle and will be out for about two months.
The Spurs posted on social networks the news that Kane was injured in the loss to Manchester United on Sunday at Wembley for the English Premier League. The curious thing is that the number 10 continued on the field during the 90 minutes – and the head coach Mauricio Pochettino ended with a substitution to make.
Also on the social networks, Harry Kane lamented the injury but ensured that he will work to get back as fast as possible.
“Injuries are part of the game but no-one will be working harder to get back fit. Thanks for the messages,” he said on his Twitter account.
A top scorer in the Premier League with 14 goals (20 in all season), Kane will return to training in early March, which means he will miss the first leg of the Round of 16 against Borussia Dortmund, scheduled for the 13th of February, in addition to a possible decision on the English League Cup, on the 24th of the same month – the Spurs beat Chelsea in the first leg of the semi-final 1-0.
Tottenham will also have at least seven Premier League games in this period and will no longer have the South Korean Son in the coming weeks, who will serve his national team in the Asian Cup.
On this season for the Premier League, Harry Kane has played 22 matches, scored 14 goals and gave 4 assists. Son has played 17 matches, scored 8 goals and gave 5 assists. Not having both of them in some important matches will certainly be a problem for Tottenham, that is fighting for a place in next year’s Champions League. We just hope that Kane recovers as soon as possible to continue playing and helping his team to go further this season.
