France beat Albania 4-1 and top Group H

Playing at the Stade de France, the French National Team hosted Albania this Saturday in the Euro Qualifiers Matchday 5 in Group H. The Frenchmen were without some of their main names such as Paul Pogba, N Golo Kante, and Kylian Mbappe, but still, managed to easy past Albania. Kingsley Coman, twice, Olivier Giroud, and Jonathan Ikone scored for the Blues as Sokol Cikalleshi scored a 90th-minute consolation for the visitors.

Halfway through, the world champions top Group H, on 12 points in five matches. Also on 12 points are Turkey and Iceland. The Group is very equal, and any slip could be lethal. Didier Deschamps’ men will have to keep up their good performances with five games to go.

The match started in an unusual delay due to the fact that the French federation played the Andorra anthem instead of the Albanese. So the kickoff was a little bit delayed, but after that, the French dominated the ground.

The French opened the scoring on 9 minutes, through Coman. Raphael Varane was the provider in a beautiful through ball to the Bayern Munich striker, who in front of the keeper scored. 1-0 France.

Mbappe’s substitute, Coman played really well down the right-wing, as it felt like France didn’t even miss the PSG star. One became two before the half-hour mark, as Hernandez fed Giroud, as the Chelsea striker found the back of the net. 2-0.

France kept going and scored two more into the second half. Antoine Griezmann combined a one-two with Giroud and fed Coman, who scored his second goal into the match. 3-0 France with 68 on the clock.

Deschamps subbed Ikone in for Coman, as the Bayern striker was praised by the supporters. On 85 minutes, the substitute also did his job and scored making it 4-0 to France. On 90 minutes, Hugo Lloris conceded a penalty, as he fouled Cikallesh inside the area. The man himself stepped up and discounted for the Albanese.

France’s next game will be against Andorra, as Albania host Iceland. Both games are on Tuesday, in Group H.
