South America is a continent that has crossed millions of problems: social, economic, political, natural, cultural and others. Now, it crosses a new one: the sports one.
Soccer, specifically. Selections, to be as detailed as possible.
The UEFA Nations League has destroyed friendly matches for South American teams. These months have been the perfect example: Asia is emerging as the new -and not competitive- client.
The solution?
The solution seems simple enough, though hated by the average South American. Gentlemen, we have to look at Europe. And copy them in this innovation, of course.
The UEFA Nations League left friendly in the air. It takes full advantage of the FIFA dates, while in other continents these are wasted.
While Europe plays its tournament and Africa the qualifiers to the next cup of the continent, America is lost.
But there is a solution, I repeat.
America, or failing that, South America must organize a tournament with the same dynamics as the UNL. Add value to the show, officialize matches and compete at all times.
That does not mean there will not be spaces to test players and schemes. In fact, it is a perfect opportunity.
It is useless to ‘prove’ when there is not a worthy rival or similar to the ones you will face in official tournaments.
The exploitation of the product
Offers and projects for the creation of this new project should not be missing, for obvious reasons.
It is a scandal that, at this point, some CONMEBOL teams cannot play televised friendly matches. Considering how mysterious football is on that side of the pond, now this. Seriously?!
The intensity of South American football, now not only in Copa America and Pre-World Qualifiers. It does not sound bad at all.
The product, with a good organization, will be a total success. And I write it even before it exists. But it should not take long to be like that.
Brazil vs. Argentina, a couple of days later, Brazil vs. Uruguay…
Seriously, what the fuck are you waiting for?
