According to the Portuguese newspaper “A Bola”, FC Porto are looking for a new striker. Their main target is Rafael Santos Borre, who is currently playing for River Plate, from Argentina.
The Argentine club probably doesn’t want to lose the 24-year-old player, but they will have a difficult mission to keep him. That’s because his contract goes just until 2021 and the Milionarios have just 50% of his rights. In order to sign a new contract, they would have to pay about 25 million euros to Atletico Madrid.
However, the club’s banks are not in a very good condition, due to the financial crisis in the world of football. Because of that, River is in a bad situation and, apparently, the better deal would be selling the player.
With this difficult moment for the Argentine team, things would be better for Porto, who would be able to negotiate directly with Atletico Madrid.
Some people also talk about the possibility of the Spanish team to buy the player back. However, Porto is willing to do their best.
The Dragons have analyzed the situation and saw that they are financially capable of fighting for the Colombian striker, who has played 24 matches this season for River Plate, scoring a total of 15 goals.
In addition to him, the team from Portugal would also have plans to sign the Uruguayan Brian Lozano on the next transfer window. The 26-year-old player is currently playing for Santos Laguna, from Mexico.
If the Dragons are really able to bring these two players, they would have the possibility to sell Aboubakar, Marega, Soares, and also Ze Luis. With that, they would compensate for the expenses in the negotiations for the new reinforcements.
Honestly, it seems very probable for FC Porto to get the new players, once their staff took a long time analyzing the club’s situation before thinking about buying any of them.
