Maurizio Sarri is really satisfied with the arrival of Gonzalo Higuaín to Chelsea. For the Italian coach, the striker, who already played under his command during his times on Napoli, fits perfectly on the game that The Blues do. According to the newspaper “The Guardian”, Sarri says that he hopes to be the “father” of Higuaín in football.
“I hope I will be his father in football (from Higuaín)”, said Sarri, who emphasized the fact that he was only talking about football. “I do not know the mother of Gonzalo”, said, laughing, the coach of Chelsea.
Sarri took a look at the history of the striker and pointed his capacity to improve when he is facing difficult times during his career.
“At the moment he is very focused. In my first season at Napoli, he arrived a little late because of the “Copa América”. He missed a penalty in the last match for the Serie A and after he missed a penalty at the final. He had a good reaction, he was really wanting to have an excellent season and he had. He is capable of reacting well to difficulties. I think he can have an amazing season or at least half season”, said Maurizio.
The head coach also said that sometimes Higuaín needs special treatment in order to always have confidence. Some mistakes during his career made some bruises on his image and Sarri shows that it is important to keep motivating the Argentine.
“He needs confidence before anything. He needs to have a good relationship with the head coach and his teammates. Sometimes he needs a message from his coach during a press conference. All that we will only be able to see in the future”, said the coach.
After arriving at Chelsea, Gonzalo already played 3 matches, playing the 90th minutes only on the victory by 5-0 against Huddersfield, in which he scored his first 2 goals for the Blues. If he depends on the motivation given by the coach, he will surely get it with Sarri.
