This Wednesday, Norwich welcomed Everton for matchday 31 of the Premier League. At the Carrow Road, the visitors got a simple 1-0 victory at the beginning of the second half. The only goal of the match was scored by defender Michael Keane.
Playing at home, the Canaries tried to control the pace of the match since the beginning. At the 17th minute, Onel Hernandez tried from outside the box and the ball deflected on the defense, passing close to the post. They still managed to scare goalkeeper Jordan Pickford again with Lukas Rupp’s attempt from outside the box, obligating the English keeper to make a good save.
On the other hand, the Toffees were focusing on playing with counter-attacks, mainly with Richarlison and Alex Iwobi, but weren’t able to bring any real danger to the home side.
Unlike the first half, the Toffees started the second half tried to control the match. And already in the early minutes, they were able to break the deadlock. At the 55th minute, Lucas Digne’s corner found Kane, who headed into the back of the net to open the scoring and put the visitors ahead.
After that, there weren’t many chances. The best ones kept being for Everton, while Norwich just couldn’t manage to create opportunities to at least scare their opponents. Goalkeeper Tim Krul still had to make a good save on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s shot to keep the scoring 1-0 to the visitors.
With the victory, Everton reached 41 points, in the 12th position. The Toffees are still fighting for a place in Europa League’s qualification zone, even though it is a little difficult. Norwich, on the other hand, is still at the bottom of the table, with just 21 points. It is getting more and more difficult for the Canaries to avoid relegation, but it’s still not impossible.
