This Sunday, Wolverhampton welcomed Everton for matchday 35 of the Premier League. At the Molineux Stadium, the Wolves keep on dreaming about a possible place on next season’s Champions League after a good 3-0 victory over their opponents. Raul Jimenez, Leander Dendoncker, and Diogo Jota guaranteed the three points to the hosts.

The first half started with both teams playing equally, but with a low technical level. It took time until the teams started to show some good football and the home side became the brighter side. Especially after Yerry Mina’s injury, at the 31st minute, which obligated the Colombian to leave the pitch. After that, Everton’s defense showed some problems and started giving space to the hosts.

With that, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was obligated to make some good saves during the last minutes of the first half. However, before the half-time, the Wolves were able to break the deadlock. Already at injury time, the referee awarded them a penalty after Lucas Digne brought Daniel Podence down inside the box. Raul Jimenez stepped up and converted from the spot.

Even with the advantage in the scoring, the hosts didn’t come back to the second half relaxed. In fact, already at the 46th minute, they doubled their lead. After Pedro Neto’s cross, Dendoncker arrived first and headed into the back of the net. No chances to goalkeeper Pickford.

Being behind in the scoring by two goals, manager Carlo Ancelotti made some changes in the squad, trying to make his team a little more offensive. However, it gave the hosts the counter-attack and, with that, they found the back of the net again. At the 74th minute, Diogo Jota received a long pass from Ruben Neves, went forward, and hit the ball into the right corner.

After that, the Toffees seemed too weak to actually try to score at least a consolation, while the Wolves still could have increased the scoring if it wasn’t for Jota losing a good opportunity in the final minutes. The match ended 3-0 to the hosts.

With the victory, Wolverhampton went to the 6th place, with 55 points. They are 3 points behind United and 4 points behind Leicester, but both still play this weekend. Meanwhile, Everton stopped at 45 points, not fighting for anything in the 11th place.
