Leganes and Real Valladolid faced each other this Saturday, at Municipal de Butarque, for matchday 28 of La Liga. The match, which marked the return of the Spanish League, ended with a 2-1 win for the visitors. Enes Unal and Ruben Alcaraz scored the winning goals, while Oscar Rodriguez scored the only goal os the hosts.
The first half started with Valladolid already breaking the deadlock after a terrible mistake from the defense. At the second minute, defender Chidozie Awaziem used his head to give the ball back to goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar, however, the Spanish keeper was outside the box. Unal took advantage of the mistake, robbed the ball, and put it into the back of an empty net.
1-0 down, the hosts had to attack more, but they weren’t really able to do so. They just had one good opportunity in the first half, with Kevin Rodrigues, but the ball went wide. With that, they went to half time one goal behind.
Unfortunately, for Leganes, the second half started just like the first, with Real Valladolid scoring. At the 54th minute, Oscar Plano went down the right-wing and cross inside the box. Raul Garcia missed the ball, but Alcaraz was behind him to hit a strong shot into the back of the net, with no chances to goalkeeper Cuellar.
Even with two goals ahead, the visitors didn’t stop attacking, still bringing trouble to the home side. It took Leganes a few minutes to take control of the game once again, but they did it. So, at the 84th minute, they finally scored, with a little help from Mohammed Salisu, who brought Roger Assale down inside the box. Oscar Rodriguez stepped up and converted from the stop.
However, the late goal was not enough and the visitors left the pitch with the three points.
With the victory, Real Valladolid reached 32 points and is in 14th place. Leganes, on the other hand, keep fighting against relegation, stopping at the same 23 points in 19th place.
