This Friday, Tottenham, and Manchester United faced each other in the 30th Premier League Matchday. The match played at Spurs’ brand new stadium ended up in a 1-1 draw. The hosts opened the scoring through Holland international Steven Bergwijn, as United level it late in the second half. Guess how… Thorugh another penalty, scored by Portuguese Bruno Fernandes.
Man United had the better chances under the quarter-hour mark, as Marcus Rashford had a chance saved by Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris. However, it was Jose Mourinho’s side who broke the deadlock. Serge Aurier assisted Dutchman Steven Bergwijn, who finished at David De Gea, but the Spanish keeper incredibly accepted it, as he palmed into his own goal.
After the break, the Spurs still looked the brighter side, with some good chances. However, they missed Harry Kane, who was playing but couldn’t be that decisive as he normally is.
The hosts could handle Man United only up to the 80th minute, as Paul Pogba humiliated Spurs’ Eric Dier, as the latter brought the Frenchman down in the box. Penalty to Man United, which was taken by Fernandes, who wrong sided Lloris to equalize it.
Gassed up by the 80th-minute equalizer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side went on to try a comeback. Believe it or not, they had yet another penalty given in their favor, but VAR overturned it, as there wasn’t any foul in the play.
The 1-1 draw was not a good deal for neither side. Man United went to 47 points, in 5th place, only two from 4th-placed Chelsea, who will still play in this Matchday. The Spurs remained in 8th place.
In the next Matchday, Tottenham will face West Ham, as Man United will take on Sheffield United.
